I’m trying to remember the first time
I put my foot in it.

because I can’t recall
the last.

I can’t remember any of the times
in between
either.

Perhaps I never have?

Although, if I called her up
(unlikely after all this time)
and explained that,

for reasons of my own, I’m
trying to remember
the first and the last,

I expect she could provide me
with a list.
