Was It Really So Long Ago

Grimm Tales

Beloved and I had organised a treat for the girls this afternoon in London. We arrived at the venue, in wind cold enough to dry freeze gravy products at the Oxo Tower Wharf on the south bank of the Thames.

The building appeared to be a semi-derelict warehouse, but we were soon ushered inside to pianos playing to themselves and a huge sign announcing "Grimm Tales". Over the next 3 hours, we were guided from room to room, floor to floor of this old industrial building in dimly lit scenes, played out from Grimm's fairy tales.

Filament lamps of all conceivable types hung from the ceilings, illuminating the set along with bare brick walls and concrete of the beams and ceiling. Each of the five tales were performed right in front of us as we lined benches around the edge of each room in a party of about 50 people.

The actors performed extremely well. Us parents and children alike would highly recommend it.
