Life in Newburgh on Ythan

By Talpa

An immigrant

A miserably cold, wet day - even the collared doves are taking shelter.
Collared doves Streptopelia decaocto are common birds and can be seen almost everywhere in the British Isles, despite having arrived in1953, after a rapid natural spread across Europe from the Middle East. A beautiful bird, but sadly lumbered with a dreadfully monotonous cooing song.
