78 Derngate, Northampton

The front door of 78 Derngate, the only house in England designed by Charles Rennie Mackintosh, the Scottish Architect and Painter.  It was also his last commission.

It was purchased for W.J. Bassett-Lowke by his father as a wedding present in 1916 for £250 and the work cost a further £600.

We have grown fond on CRM, finding his work in his native Glasgow, southern France, Walberswick and now Northampton!
