A Walk on the Lake!

The day started with breakfast, eaten with UL and AL after they stayed the night. After they drove off we took ourselves out for a walk, down the hill to the lake.  We crossed the lake on the ice, continued over a headland until we came back to the lake and then back around the headland following a snow scooter track.
As we returned we passed this narrow section of lake where the flow keeps a channel more or less open all the time. Taking advantage of this natural feature beavers have built a large lodge, over 2 meters high, which you can see on the other side of this channel.
Unlike down on the coast the snow has not melted here, 4 km inland and a bit above sea level.  The ice also seems really firm despite the recent warm weather.  Snow scooters were parked on the ice and their owners had drilled a line of holes through which they were fishing.  Ever optimistic they also had a fire going on the shore, ready to grill their catch. I bet they had some hamburgers cached away, just in case the fishing didn’t work!
