Another of those days when it would have been better to go out early. By the time we got to St James's Park the sun had disappeared but fortunately we'd finished our walk and made it into a nice warm café before the rain came down.

Like most of the wildlife in the park this grey heron was clearly so habituated to humans that it just stood within 10 metres of the path without a care in the world. Of course a lot of the birds don't have a choice about staying there as their wings are clipped - I felt especially sorry for the pelicans shivering in the wind. Better light would have helped the shot - but hey, you can't always get what you want!
