A Matthew A Day

Botanic gardens

My turn to get up early with Matthew and by the time we were all dressed and breakfasted I was really flagging. But Mike had the genius idea of heading out to the Botanic Gardens and we spent a fab hour and a half there.

Mummy and daddy saw kingfishers from above the lake, then we all went over the stepping stones together - admiring the ice. Some climbing through the rock garden, a run across the lawn to the fountain for sone fun breaking ice in the puddles and fountain and throwing it around then a wander through the glasshouses - noting that they have an orchid festival on at the moment. Some gorgeous flowers in the alpine section. And finally some running round puddle jumping and stick carrying.

We decided to split the journey home by stopping at Scotsdales for lunch - and still ended up with him dozing off in the bike! But Mike woke him without too much protest and we had a really good time there too - a nice lunch and a ride on Thomas. Home for a late nap, bath and then fun with balloons and rolling balls down a ramp and playing with teddy and a big cardboard box.

Rubbish start, great day. But we have so had enough of being tired.
