Catherine Lacey: BoyStory

Evening stroll

Today we did very little beyond things around the house, the mountain of admin, homework, piano practice.

Later in the evening, Reuben and I took a walk around the neighborhood enjoying the beautiful pink jasmine blossom that's everywhere and here at our favourite purple flowers where I've captured the boys every year. We've been missing from Blip and indeed the outside world whilst the boys have been recovering from stomach flu so there's much back tracking to be done.

How I love watching Reuben studying flowers as he does here. He has no sense of smell since he's missing the olfactory bulb like the majority of people with CHARGE syndrome, his diagnosis. I wonder what that must feel like since my head is giddy at this time of year with the scent of blossoms in the air.

Later, his tooth decided to fall out just as he was brushing them and said tooth is now safely ensconced in the drains. Reuben feeling this might hinder the Tooth Fairy's ability and indeed willingness to swap her hard earned cash for a tooth to build her castle, firmly believed that she wouldn't be visiting him tonight. So the story began about her teeny tiny stature and thus her ability to get into the drains, as messy a busy as it is.
