Modern Art

Spent the day down at my old haunts in the University of Manchester.
We were visiting the Manchester Royal Eye Hospital. But as we were in very good time we spent half an hour in the Whitworth Art Gallery, which belongs to the University. Since my last visit over twenty years ago it has been extended and it remains one of the most important galleries in the North. There is a collection Turner and Blake watercolours. But inevitably there are rooms full of contemporary art. Many quirky things but this one was made entirely of brown paper and filter tipped cigarettes.
Incidentally, after nine hospital visits and three consultant, an MRI scan and an Electro Myography test all over a period of eighteen months, my double vision problem has been largely resolved by sticking a small piece of opaque tape over a section of one lens of my glasses. We laughed all the way home.
