Dreams can come true!! Snow!!!

Awoke to grey skies and hail and sleet showers so gave up on going for a walk and headed down to Windermere to browse the Lakeland shop, a cook's paradise!

On reaching Windermere, the sleet had turned into heavy snow and was covering everything with a beautiful layer of white frosting. Beautiful but slightly worrying as our cottage had turned out to be at the top of a steep hill, approached by a very narrow and windy track. So after lunch in a typical Lakeland country pub, we decided it would be wise to head back up the hill while we still could!

The track turned out to be fine and the cottage looked even more picturesque than before, nestled in its tiny snowy hamlet. Built in 1764 St Anne's cottages were built as almshouses. The log fire was quickly lit, and I hunkered down for the rest of the day, enjoying the warmth of the fire and the beautiful winter wonderland views from the window...

(Tuesday 24th Feb: have managed to find a free wifi connection at Hawkshead Brewery so have quickly uploaded blips for Saturday and Sunday. And of course if would be rude to use the wifi without sampling the fare! Cheers!!)
