Whether it was a painting or a photographic print is of no matter but I really liked it and told him how it may have been created as a photograph.

That inspired me to go out and apply the described treatment to a local piece of landscape and here it is.

Two source images were used. One a straight photograph and a second taken at a slow shutterspeed with the camera being panned rapidly in a vertical direction.

Thanks to the magic of GIMP, this is the result and I think it accurately mimics the effect seen in the alcloudie's hotel print.

I think I may use this technique again soon.
