Adapt and thrive

Slightly surprised and very amuse to watch six turnstones outside the café on the seafront at Hastings/St Leonards this morning. The rocks where you'd expect to see them foraging for shellfish and the like were still exposed by the low tide but this little gang had decided to try their luck as crumb scavengers and appeared to be out-competing the usual suspects the pigeons and the gulls. Several gulls were getting quite aggressive about this intrusion but try as they might they simply weren't fast enough to catch the turnstones. The photo is less than inspired as I managed once again to go out with only a stumpy lens but the main object of the trip out had been to help my mum choose a new cooker and in this we were successful!
