Rx for the future.

Today I took a tour of the VA CMOP. The Consolidated Mail Outpatient Pharmacy. It was impressive in its size and scope. They fill over 1.2 million prescriptions per month at the Charleston CMOP. I can't help but to ask how much of those could be avoided through positive lifestyle changes and healthier habits. One thing is for certain, when I finish pharmacy school I do not plan on working here. The scary thing is that this is probably the model most pharmacies will go to in the very near future. One that very automated and roboticized. It is scary because I can identify the many positives to this system while the negatives are indeed few and far between.
