Strange visitor

Well strange to us!  What a morning for seeing surprises!!
Firstly the green woodpecker was flying about and hiding from the camera.   As soon as the camera is raised he is off again just out of range.   (One day I'll catch him!)
Secondly, as we sat in the hide this fellow appeared briefly out of the reeds.  Looking in our Book of Birds, we think it is a Water Rail and, as the book tells us, they tend to be nervous and well hidden in the reeds we thought we would give him his moment of fame.  He didn't stay long!  Thirdly as we drove away down the lane, I spotted something at the water edge in another field.  Again it was to quick for me to capture anything better than an identification shot before it took flight - a Little Egret.  We had been told there was one nearby but had never seen it before.
