Kotuku in silvery water

Blip mate alerted me to the fact the kotuku (white herons) were back in the Motueka Estuary. I was down there soon after dawn and there was one in the Thorp Drain which is quite unusual but the tide was still coming in and obviously it and a white faced heron knew where the food was.
I had just got my camera out ready to walk down the path so it was quite a surprise to see it so close the entrance way.
Other people were walking their dogs and it didn't move but as soon as I went down the path it took off. Camera shy maybe?
