Tree Sparrow

After my morning walk I took my dad out for lunch and a bit more fresh air. We visited Carsington Water a reservoir operated by Severn Trent Water in Derbyshire, not far from Ashbourne.

We spent the afternoon bird watching from their wildlife centre. And I was charmed by the tree sparrows. Not the best shot in the world but you don't see these sparrows that often.

There was plenty of other birdlife including teal, oystercatchers, and lapwings. We also saw a Great Northern Diver, which is quite unusual this far inland and south. Apparently this is not the first year they've been seen on the reservoir.
