Running crocus

Our speaker at the Lorn Garden Club this evening was Ian Christie, the well-known alpine plant nurseryman from Kirriemuir up in Angus. His subject was 'Spring Gems' and his range of plant photographs was amazing. Very good of him to come all this way to speak to less than two dozen people.

He brought plants for sale and I bought these three Crocus herbertii, a high altitude species from Turkey which enjoys cool conditions, and unusually, increases from stolons, little runners with cormlets attached, so it increases quite rapidly. We'll see.
