Peeling bark in late afternoon sun

Walking this afternoon was uncomfortable. The viciously slicing low sun was either blinding or it was lighting everything in front of me in a high contrast glare. However, it did also pick out some jewel-like little scenes that existed briefly as I walked by, only to revert to ordinary and dull within one or two steps. This was one such little picture where the low sun was firing up the translucent bark peeling back from an ash twig.
