Blues Trio

Caught at Marine Park at the end of a busy day, and not as angst-ridden as it may appear -- the fellow on the left was looking for suitable stones to skim across the water, and I suspect that the woman on the far right was checking her phone!

But here's something that may cause blues this summer: Washington state's snowpack is only 29 percent of normal, according to our local newspaper today. "Snow that falls in the mountains in winter acts as a reservoir for the state's water supply, melting slowly in spring and summer," said the Bellingham Herald article.

Fortunately, total annual precipitation is above normal so far, so soil moisture levels and groundwater supplies are in good shape, for now, but if the summer months are dry, as they usually are, there could be water deficits in late summer and fall.
