Friends Abode

Day two of the weekend away. The New Inn or Newynne was first noted in 1463 when Thomas the Abbot of Sibton Abbey leased it to John Kempe.

The building is a traditional medieval house with a large communal hall with a central hearth. The New Inn operated as a hostelry for many years.

In 1971-2 the Landmark Trust rescued the building which was in a very poor state of repair. The building opened in 1972. In 2013 the building was refurbished to insulate and to install heating. The building was converted from two Landmarks into one.. Sleeping 8.
