Mikhail Koklyaev world record attempt

Mikhail is a Russian National weightlifting champion, strongman competitor and powerlifter.  He has placed third place at the Arnold Strongman Classic in 2006, 2008 & 2013, as well as 2nd in 2009.

Today he made an attempt at the Arnold Classic Expo Strongman Stage on an 80 year old record help by legendary Frenchman Charles Rigoulot.  Charles managed to set ten world records in weightlifting and one of those was the one-handed barbell snatch with 253 pounds.

This means snatching the long whippy bar (with metal globes on the ends, not weights as we know them today) in one continuous movement to over head where it needs to be held still for a second or two.

Mikhail's 3 attempts today were close but he did not quite manage to get the arm extended overhead before the bar came crashing down each attempt. This is a warmup attempt with 220 which he made look easy. The heavier bar on the floor was set at 1lb above the record. But not for today.
