Story

  I read earthdreamery's post for 5th March about books which have had a significant impact on his life, and it got me thinking about the impact of certain books in my own life.  I have not made a list but if I did then this book would definitely be included, E. H. Gombrich's Story of Art.  I bought my copy years ago in a second hand bookshop in York and it was pretty battered but it was on the reading list for my studies.  It is a general introduction to the history of western art and is an absolute classic, informative but easy to read, and has always had pride of place on the bookshelf.
  The only problem with close up shots like this is that every speck of dust and fluff is magnified.  I do dust, occasionally.
