Rosa Luxemburg

International Women's Day would not be complete without mention of one I admire intensely - Rosa Luxemburg. My blip is from HERE.

Rosa Luxemburg was an outstanding fighter for the rights of the working class internationally at the beginning of the 20th Century. She favoured revolution rather than reform in that fight.

Although she concentrated on the rights of the working class she was a firm advocate of women’s rights and was close friends with the great feminist and socialist activist, Clara Zetkin (1857–1933).   In November 1918 she wrote her a letter saying: “Maybe I should write on the women’s question. It’s so important right now.”  In a way, of course, she was spot-on in her fight for the working classes and equality for all – when that is resolved so will the place of women in society.

However, she had some thoughts on that which you can read about here!

Have a thoughful International Women's Day!
