Stinking Hellebore

Helleborus foetidus. This one does indeed have an unpleasant smell. It is easily identified by the red edging to the flower. My blip shows flowers in three stages of maturity.

It is quite widespread in the wild in this part of the world and is also found in gardens. But one wildflower guide says from Yorkshire southwards, rather rare.
