Looking over...

the village

This seat is at one end of the village on the top of the hill. It looks over the main street and the assorted quirky houses.

There is a wonderful poem on the back of the seat which reads:

Ron Tyreman 1913 - 1992

"As you sit and rest a while
remember him of shining smile.
Who by his love of spreading fun,
inspired a man to write a song.
And though the man of fun and zest
in Ampleforth now lays to rest.
The money made by the old timer song,
paid for the seat you now sit on."

Such a nice story
