Further evidence of the arrival of spring: the Lapwings and Curlews have returned to their breeding pastures, he moorland ponds are starting to fill with frogspawn and lambs are in the fields.

Lapwings have been amongst my favourite birds since I used to watch them on the salt marshes at Lancaster, I never tire of watching and listening to them tumbling over the fields.
