Channel Crossing to Life

We arrived in Hoek van Holland at 8 am local time and took the boys for a walk before the long drive up through Europe to Denmark.

This statue 'Channel Crossing to Life' is located by the coast in Hoek van Holland. It is beautiful and it tells a moving story about the Dutch people, who helped Jewish children to England before and during World War II.

It took 10 hours to drive from Hoek van Holland in Holland to Sorø in Denmark. We are all very tired and ready for bed.

Supported by the Association of Jewish Refugees, a statue dedicated to the Kindertransport was unveiled at a moving ceremony in the Hook of Holland in November 2011. Designed by internationally acclaimed sculptor Frank Meisler, Channel Crossing to Life, commemorates the role played by Dutch people in helping to save the lives of Jewish children fleeing Nazi oppression.
