Another day, another eagle

I ma not sure I have featured Golden Eagle in the Hebrides before. There are plenty about but the White-tailed Eagles are easier to see partly because the Golden Eagles tend to stick to the mountains. In fact there are reckoned to be twelve pairs of White-tailed Eagles on the islands but 51 pairs of Golden Eagles. This particular Golden Eagle was one of a pair soaring over a hill side not far from the house.
When you actually see one, you realise that you could never confuse it with a Buzzard. Many bird species pairs are like that - you spend a lot of time trying to turn common birds into rarer ones but instantly you know the rarer one when you do actually see it and realise how silly you were trying to make things into what they weren't!
