Marwick Waves

I went up to The Loons for the first time in  while. A gale was blowing directly into the hide so I didn't stay very long. On the loch were gadwall, goldeneye, coots and moorhens, etc and a couple of hen harriers were struggling in the wind to hunt over the reed-beds. I walked to Marwick where the waves were pretty big. I headedup the cliff-path and the gale increased. I began to think that it wasn't a very good idea being up there, especially when I noticed the waterproof cover of my rucksack torn off and flying away. So much for being sewn-in! The path down to Birsay palace was a bit more sheltered. More shots here..https://www.flickr.com/photos/octobermoth/.
