More signs of spring

Not that you would know it from the weather overnight - another gale.
Black-headed gulls here head south for the winter - some would say a wise choice -  but this pair have made it back and are resplendent in their full breeding plumage and very dapper they are too.  I particularly love the white crescent behind the eye.
The light was getting a bit low so you can't see the full colours of their chocolate brown hoods and their deep red legs. Even so they are elegant birds and harbingers of better things to come.
