Unbreakable love

I only came across this phenomena recently but it seems it's been happening for years. This padlock is pictured here along with numerous others on Scarborough Bridge, a footbridge that runs alongside the railway line over the River Ouse in York. There is no indication as to whose unbreakable love this lock is signifying, so perhaps it's there for anyone to lay claim to.
