Slates

Slate piling on the back of a truck before they get picked off by hand and taken by wheelbarrow to the back of the house. I can't imagine how many trips will have been required by the time the roof is finished.

I do feel very sorry for the roofer though, who has claimed we live in the coldest place in the world!
