Capturing the Everyday

Our young Rimu tree

We planted a young rimu tree when we had the garden landscaped. We have tried to plant a lot of native plants, and the rimu is iconic conifer and has been used as a hardwood timber in many of the kiwi houses.

The tree is particularly graceful in appearance when young - which is for many many decades, - it’s a slow growing tree that can live for well over 700 years!  Staggering really.

So long after we have gone, and indeed the house has gone, this rimu (a protected native tree) should stand tall (20-35m) and strong!
