weed dance

Spring is in the air when the grebe start their courtship dance but today so was winter in the air with an icy breeze.
It was a real pleasure spending the late afternoon watching this pair show their affections for each other by raising and shaking their heads at each other and then later swimming quickly together and raising out of the water offering each other their gift.

I did something similar for Lesley, as we left the hide we called into the best ever fish and chip shop, a tiny shop in the village of Wessington that only opens at weekends, I gathered the gift, raised and offered a delicious bag of chips :)
