A lesson in flowers......

The children produced this floral arrangement in the Mothers' Day family service this morning. Every flower was chosen for the meaning of its name which related so well to the nature of God and to that of mothers. I learnt so much!

Daffodils..............................hope.... and sunshine
Orange lily.......................... pride and its dangers, of which we often need
                                             reminding
White lily                             authority...and majesty and kingship
Daisy                                   patience
Pink tulip                            care and compassion
Chrysanthemum               joy
Carnations                          red- passion and perfection
                                              pink- gentle, caring love
pink and white stripe - love given even when it                                                 is rejected or unrequited.

And after a big breakfast in a very nice venue locally, we didn't eat again until this evening.

Oliver and Sophia gave their mummy toast and a cup of tea in bed this morning, and Joff and Andrea had a successful car boot offloading 'stuff' before their imminent move to their first home of their own.
