Break

We walked in the narrow streets of the Barri Gòtic under washing strung from balconies catching the sun – orange, green, turquoise... We stumbled across a small quiet courtyard whose central palm tree, if we stood in just the right place, reflected in elaborate windows against a brilliant blue sky. Outside the cathedral a man with wild grey hair and an electronic keyboard played Beethoven symphonies with more enthusiasm than accuracy and earnt occasional coins. In the Mercado de La Boqueria heaped fruit and strung chillies battled the smoothies in shiny plastic cups for colour dominance. Everywhere there are people going about their work or their lack of it; everywhere graffiti forms a backdrop.

Finally, Plaça Reial with its elegant porticos and palm trees where I had the enormous pleasure of meeting Digitaldaze and Barrioboy for the first time. We chatted like we’d known each other for ages which, in a way, we have, this being blip…

This reminded me of an image I took on another trip - turned out to be almost exactly two years ago.

My sister is on her way!
