The Very Hungry Caterpillar

On Monday, he ate one green leaf, and he was still hungry!

It was Mr S who spotted this little creature as it made its way across the upstairs carpet, watched very carefully by our two cats on full point. All I can figure is that he got a free ride on my garden pants yesterday and then spent the past 24 hours trying to find a decent meal. I scooped him up and went outside, camera in my free hand. As soon as I put him near the sourgrass (oxalis), he reared up and began to chomp. In a shockingly short time he had eaten a good portion of the leaf. A terrific way to dispose of the oxalis, but I wonder what fearsome creature I have saved and what he will eat next!
