IMPACT

By IMPACT

More than 360 million people worldwide have disabling hearing loss.

In Nepal IMPACT runs several primary ear care centres, as well as taking mobile ear care clinics to the heart of rural villages and staging surgical 'camps' (using a special sterile operating tent) for those needing operations to restore their hearing.

We believe that prevention is better than cure so IMPACT Nepal also works within schools to teach children how they can take care of their ears and protect their hearing. Helping children to understand key health messages is beneficial as instilling these habits at a young age will mean they hopefully develop into life-long practices.

IMPACT also provides ear screening for the school children to check for signs of hearing loss and infection. Any pupils needing follow up care are referred to IMPACT trained Primary Healthcare workers for further investigation and any necessary treatment.
