Financial innovation in Africa

A panel which evoked some of the most palpable excitement I've sensed at a meeting at the UN Commission on the Status of Women conference. Amazing to get a sense of the geographic representation (Ivory Coast, Kenya, Somalia, South Africa, etc.), depth of expertise (1st woman minister ever in Somalia, head of the Ministry of Women in South Africa, etc.), and sheer interest in potential advances in mobile telephony coupled with financial inclusion (mobile payments, mobile account-based borrowing) as well as community initiatives (village/table banking).
And I could get used to having live translators (who are in the windows above the attendees).
