Scenes from everyday life

Orchard House

I was attracted by this terracotta awning over the entrance to Orchard House in Westminster's Abbey Orchard Street.

Abbey Orchard Street is so called because it is on the site of the orchard of the medieval Westminister Abbey.  No fruit trees here now: just these pottery substitutes.  But I enjoy thinking of the monks picking apples to make cider.
