TOSCA

An inauspicious start to the day, when dad phoned from hospital to say that his mobile phone wasn't working; naturally, he used his mobile phone to call me. To be fair he said that it was no longer keeping a charge. I'll get him a replacement tomorrow.

Anyhow upward and onward, and this afternoon we attended Scottish Opera's production of Tosca, a revival of the 1980 production which was the first opera I ever saw. Well, to say it was really, really good would be an understatement, and a not-very-eloquent one at that. It was wonderful, intensely moving and beautifully sung and orchestrated. And James Naughtie was in the audience, and he knows his classical stuff.

Followed this up with a right old stuffing at Stockbridge Pizza Express and since we were using up our Tesco vouchers, it cost next to nothing. Which was just as well considering what I just spent on new Scarpa trainers and opera tickets. Don't ask.

The blip shows the glass front of the Festival Theatre.
