The great traveller

Leif Erikson is pretty much recognised now as the first westerner to set foot on what is now known as the United States of America. In recognition of the 1,000 year anniversary of the first Icelandic Parliament at Pingvellir in 1930 the US Government commissioned this statue that sits outside the Hallgrimskirkja Cathedral in Reykjavik.

Just as Erikson made his return to Iceland after his long journey, I am now looking forward to the next time I return to this wonderful country in six months time.
