Eclipsed by cloud

This morning's partial solar eclipse was totally eclipsed by the overcast sky.

Nevertheless, with unbounded optimism, I constructed, with Mr Pandammonium's help, an eclipse-viewer from a cardboard box, tin foil, greaseproof paper and sellotape.  It's roughly modelled on constructions involving pin hole projections I found on the internet.

I tested it using the living room ceiling light.  It didn't seem great, but that's probably to be expected, given lightbulbs aren't quite as bright as the sun.

Nevertheless, its functionality was rendered irrelevant because the clouds remained steadfastly in place.  I think it went a bit gloomier outside; it was hard to tell.

Mr Perkins was interested in only one thing, of course.
