Solar Eclipse 2015

The weather forecast suggested that we would be cloudy for the eclipse, but as luck would have it it was clear for the start of the period, but gradually became cloudier. The glasses we got at the observatory on Monday were great, but even with the lowest iso, smallest aperture, a polariser, and 1/8000 it was too bright to get a decent photo. The  photography improved markedly once the cloud started to obscure the sun. Clockwise from top left this is the eclipse from Edinburgh at 9:21, 9:36, 10:01 and 10:25. We had 93% of the sun covered but it was still bright albeit a little odd light. The birds went quiet at 9:25 about 6 minutes before the greatest moon coverage and then started singing again at 9:35; hope they had their eclipse glasses on.
