Silent Night

Another trip to the Hippodrome Festival of Silent Cinema with EdiSteve, this time to see the hugely funny 1929 film Synthetic Sin. Starring the mostly forgotten Colleen Moore, it's the story of a daft young wannabe actress who decides she needs to live among the 'sinners' of the big city in order to better play a bad girl on stage. Moore is simply brilliant, a hugely talented comic actress, and the intertitles are a hoot. Seek this film out.

The bonus was film and TV composer Neil Brand accompanying on piano - the man is just superb.

Anyway, also there were our charming chums Emma and Phil - dapper and flapper!
