Koru

Koru is the Maori name for a new unfurling silver fern frond which is an integral symbol in  Maori art, carving and tattoos.

Its circular shape conveys the idea of perpetual movement, and its inward coil suggests a return to the point of origin. The koru therefore symbolises the way in which life both changes and stays the same.  It is also used to symbolise new life, growth, strength and personal peace.

I went out to the Red Barn this afternoon for lunch.  I was taking photos of wasps on the rosemary bushes when one stung me.  Humph!  I was unimpressed with that so went looking for bees instead.  I couldn't find many bees but did find this koru.
