One species each day (from my backyard)

Well, not a photo of the species itself, and also not from my backyard, but the damage done by Anobium punctatum in the rimu floor boards of our house. The floor was uneven and squeaked so I started to take the old floor boards out to replace it with particle board. This is a cross section of one of the better(!) pieces of floor board. I broke it into smaller bits to see if I could find some live larvae, but I didn't see any. They must have all left or died after I put underfloor insulation in a few years ago.
