today

... we went into Leicester to watch the reburial procession of Richard lll. It was a beautifully sunny afternoon and thousands of people lined the funeral route. Everything was done with great dignity and honour for the last English king to die in battle. The route, beginning at Market Bosworth, travelled into Leicester, across Bow Bridge, stopping for a brief service at St. Nicholas Church. Then onwards past the High Cross in Jubilee Square - this is where we stood to watch. There was a wonderful atmosphere and many white roses were thrown at the horse drawn bier. It continued down High Street towards the Cathedral where it will lie in state until Thursday. A truly lovely day to be in Leicester.
