20p for poverty

20p won't do, I'm afraid.

It's a nice gesture, but we need to be thinking of much wider reforms if tackling poverty is to be an aim for Scotland.

All this is confirmed by a Scottish Government report which highlights:

"of the 820,000 individuals (16% of the population) in relative poverty, 510,000 individuals (10% of the population) were living in severe poverty, and 230,000 individuals (4% of the population) were living in extreme poverty."

Indeed, over the last decade severe and extreme poverty in Scotland has been increasing. Right before our eyes.
