Standing stone

I have walked my neighbourhood for the past three years or so and have today seen this standing stone, of undetermined age and origin, which was relocated to this spot in 1996.
I really must learn to be more perceptive!  Until I read the inscription I just thought it was an ordinary rock placed to stop cars parking on the grass!
